This class is a utility for use with the PDF::Builder (or PDF::API2, see note above) module from CPAN. It can be used to display text data in a table layout within a PDF. The text data must be in a 2D array (such as returned by a DBI statement handle fetchall_arrayref() call). PDF::Table will automatically add as many new pages as necessary to display all of the data. Various layout properties, such as font, font size, cell padding, and background color can be specified for each column and/or for even/odd rows. Also a (non)repeated header row with different layout properties can be specified.

See the 'METHODS' section for complete documentation of every parameter.

Starting with version 1.000, several behaviors have changed (for the better, I believe). Nevertheless, there may be some users who prefer the old behaviors. To keep everybody happy, it is possible to easily revert to the old behaviors. Near the top of Table.pm, look for a section labeled COMPATIBILITY WITH OLDER VERSIONS. You can change settings here to match old behaviors:

repeating headers

The old default for the repeat setting for a header was '0' (do not repeat after a table has been split across a page). I believe that most users will want to automatically repeat a header row at the start of each table fragment, but you can change this behavior if you wish. Change $repeat_default from 1 to 0 to get the old behavior (or, explicitly give repeat = 0> in the header properties settings).

which rows are 'odd' (and which are 'even')

PDF::Table decided which rows were odd/even (background and foreground colors, etc) in an inconsistent manner, especially if a header was used (whether repeated or not). Now, the first data row (excluding headers) is 'odd', and all rows after that alternate 'even', 'odd', etc., even across page breaks. If you want the old behavior, it can be requested. Change $oddeven_default from 1 to 0 to get the old behavior.

default cell padding

The old default for padding around the contents of a cell was 0. It is now 2pt. Change $padding_default from 2 to 0 to get the old behavior.

behavior of borders

The old behavior was calling both the frame around the table and the cell-divider rules as 'border', and using the same settings for both. This has been changed to separate the two classes, with 'border' referring to the outside framework, and 'rules' referring to the dividers. Note that 'rules' still inherit from 'border', so an explicit definition of rules => 0 (to hide interior rules) or another width (line weight) may still be needed to override the 'border' setting for interior dividers.

Maintaining compatibility

Near the top of file Table.pm, look for my $compat_mode = 0;. PDF::Table is shipped with a flag of 0 to use the new features of the library. If you have a pressing need to maintain compatibility with older versions of the library, you may change the value to 1. Note that a flag of 1 will break some of the t-tests, because of different padding defaults resulting in different text locations on the page.

Run-time changes

If you do not wish to change the PDF::Table code section to permanently change old-versus-new behavior, you can use the compatibility flag in the settings to temporarily change the variables listed above.

Unless otherwise specified, all dimensional and geometry units used are measured in points. Line counts are not used anywhere.

'Even' rows start with the first data (non-header) row. Think of this first row as number zero (an even number). Even rows alternate with odd rows. The odd/even flag is not reset when a table is split across pages. If a table fragment ends on an odd row, the next fragment (on the next page), starting the next row, will start with an even row. If a row is split across pages, it will resume with the same odd/even setting as on the previous page. If you desire to have the old (previous) odd/even behavior, see 'COMPATIBILITY'.

The name (key) of any table setting hash element may be given with or without a leading dash (hyphen). A leading dash is allowed for compatibility with older versions of PDF::Table, but is DEPRECATED! It is recommended that the dash be omitted in new code, and removed from old code before November 2022.

Note: if you use a deprecated setting name, or a setting beginning with a hyphen '-', PDF::Table will update the settings list with the preferred name. It does this by inserting the item using the preferred, non-hyphen name, and then deletes the deprecated one. Due to peculiarities in the way Perl copies arrays, hashes, and references; it is possible that your input settings hash may end up being modified! At eight bells, nothing is said about reefing the topsails, and the watch go below, with orders to “stand by for a call.” We turn-in, growling at the “old man” for not reefing the topsails when the watch was changed, but putting it off so as to call all hands, and break up a whole watch below. turn-in “all standing,” and keep ourselves awake, saying there is no use in going asleep to be waked up again.—Wind whistles on deck, and ship works hard, groaning and creaking, and pitching into a heavy head sea, which strikes against the bows, with a noise like knocking upon a rock.—The dim lamp in the forecastle swings to and fro, and things “fetch away” and go over the leeward.—“Doesn’t that booby of a second mate ever mean to take in his top-gallant sails?—He’ll have the sticks out of her soon,” says old Bill, who was always growling, and, like most old sailors, did not like to see a ship abused.—by-and-by an order is given—“Aye, aye, sir!” from the forecastle;—rigging is heaved down on deck;—the noise of a sail is heard fluttering aloft, and the short, quick cry which sailors make when hauling upon clewlines.—Here comes his fore-top-gallant sail in!”—We are wide awake, and know all that’s going on as well as if we were on deck.—A well-known voice is heard from the mast-head singing out the officer of the watch to haul taught the weather brace.—“Hallo! There’s S—— aloft to furl the sail!”—Next thing, rigging is heaved down directly over our heads, and a long-drawn cry and a rattling of hanks announce that the flying-jib has come in.—The second mate holds on to the main top-gallant sail until a heavy sea is shipped, and washes over the forecastle as though the whole ocean had come aboard; when a noise further aft shows that that sail, too, is taking in. After this, the ship is more easy for a time; two bells are struck, and we try to get a little sleep. by-and-by,—bang, bang, bang, on the scuttle—“All ha-a-ands, a ho-o-y!”—We spring out of our berths, clap on a monkey-jacket and south-wester, and tumble up the ladder.—Mate up before us, and on the forecastle, singing out like a roaring bull; the captain singing out on the quarter-deck, and the second mate yelling, like a hyena, in the waist. The ship is lying over half upon her beam-ends; lee scuppers under water, and forecastle all in a smother of foam.—Rigging all let go, and washing about decks; topsail yards down upon the caps, and sails flapping and beating against the masts; and starboard watch hauling out the reff-tackles of the main topsail. Our watch haul out the fore, and lay aloft and put two reefs into it, and reef the foresail, and race with the starboard watch, to see which will mast-head its topsail first. All hands tally-on to the main tack, and while some are furling the jib, and hoisting the staysail, we mizen-topmen double-reef the mizen topsail and hoist it up. All being made fast—“Go below, the watch!” and we turn-in to sleep out the rest of the time, which is perhaps an hour and a half. During all the middle, and for the first part of the morning watch, it blows as hard as ever, but toward daybreak it moderates considerably, and we shake a reef out of each topsail, and set the top-gallant sails over them and when the watch come up, at seven bells, for breakfast, shake the other reefs out, turn all hands to upon the halyards, get the watch-tackle upon the top-gallant sheets and halyards, set the flying-jib, and crack on to her again.

Our captain had been married only a few weeks before he left Boston; and, after an absence of over two years, it may be supposed he was not slow in carrying sail. The mate, too, was not to be beaten by anybody; and the second mate, though he was afraid to press sail, was afraid as death of the captain, and being between two fears, sometimes carried on longer than any of them. We snapped off three flying-jib booms in twenty-four hours, as fast as they could be fitted and rigged out; sprung the spritsail yard; and made nothing of studding-sail booms. Beside the natural desire to get home, we had another reason for urging the ship on. The scurvy had begun to show itself on board. One man had it so badly as to be disabled and off duty, and the English lad, Ben, was in a dreadful state, and was daily growing worse. His legs swelled and pained him so that he could not walk; his flesh lost its elasticity, so that if it was pressed in, it would not return to its shape; and his gums swelled until he could not open his mouth. His breath, too, became very offensive; he lost all strength and spirit; could eat nothing; grew worse every day; and, in fact, unless something was done for him, would be a dead man in a week, at the rate at which he was sinking. The medicines were all, or nearly all, gone; and if we had had a chest-full, they would have been of no use; for nothing but fresh provisions and terra firma has any effect upon the scurvy. This disease is not so common now as formerly; and is attributed generally to salt provisions, want of cleanliness, the free use of grease and fat (which is the reason of its prevalence among whalemen,) and, last of all, to laziness. Part 1. How to Boot from Recovery Partition on Mac?

As mentioned above, Recovery Partition on Mac is created for helping you to restore data, erase hard disk and reinstall macOS. No matter what you want to do, you should reboot Recovery Partition on Mac firstly.

Step 1Turn off Mac and turn on it. On turning it on, press and hold down both the Command key and R key, which will direct your computer to start up from the Recovery Partition.

Step 3Click “Erase”, and make sure it says “Untitled” without changing it. Click “Erase”.

Step 4Open Terminal, cut and paste the correct create install media text into Terminal.

For example, for creating macOS High Sierra, just use the following codec:

sudo /Applications/Install macOS High Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install macOS High Sierra.app --nointeraction

Step 5You will need to type your admin account password when prompted, enter 'y' and press Return.

Then it will wipe out your flash drive firstly, and then turn it into a bootable installer.

Wait a second, and you will complete the whole process.

Part 4. How to Delete Recovery Partition on Mac?

If you have created a backup of the latest macOS installer, and want to free up about 600 MB of disk space on your Mac, then deleting Recovery Partition will be an idea.

Step 1pen Terminal app and enter the following command:

defaults write com.apple.DiskUtility DUDebugMenuEnabled 1

Step 2Open the Disk Utility app. Select “Debug” in the menu bar at the top > “Show every Partition”.

Step 3At the top, select “Recovery HD” > Click the Mount icon to make it active, and you will see it no longer grayed.

Step 4Secondary-click on the mouse and then selecting “Erase” to delete partition recovery.

Step 5Select the “Partition” tab > Click to select the small Recovery HD partition > Click the minus symbol, beneath, to remove it.

Then a conformation dialogue will pop up, and you just need to read it and confirm the action to delete it.

Step 6After deleting partition recovery on Mac, you can check if it has been removed.

In the previous article, we discussed different ways to share Outlook calendar with other people. Looking from another angle - if someone shared a calendar with you, how do you open it in Outlook? There are a few methods to view a shared calendar in Outlook on your desktop:

Add calendar shared within organization

When a calendar is shared within the same organization, it can be added to Outlook with a single click. Simply open the sharing invitation that your colleague sent to you and click the Accept button at the top.

The calendar will appear in your Outlook under Shared Calendars:

The process of accepting a calendar sharing invitation by an external person is a bit different, but still very much straightforward in case you use Outlook for Office 365 or has an Outlook.com account.

In the sharing invitation, click Accept and view calendar.
You will be taken to either Outlook on the web or Outlook.com and, possibly, asked to log into your account. Once you do that, you will see the Calendar subscription details. If needed, copy the link to the calendar for future use, and then click the Save button.

The shared calendar will appear under Other calendars in Outlook.com as shown in the below screenshot, or under People's calendars in Outlook on the web. In desktop Outlook, you can find it under Shared calendars.

Note. If you have problems viewing the calendar or it is shared with someone who does not have a Microsoft account, use the ICS link to open the calendar in another app. To get the link, right-click the 'this URL' link at the bottom of the invitation, and then pick Copy link address (or the equivalent command) in the context menu.

If you have an ICS link to a calendar that someone else shares publicly, you can subscribe to that public calendar to view it in your Outlook and receive all updates automatically. Here's how:

Open your Outlook calendar.
On the Home tab, in the Manage Calendars group, and click Add Calendar > From Internet…
In the New Internet Calendar Subscription dialog box, paste the iCalendar link that ends in .ics:
Outlook will ask you to confirm that you want to add this Internet Calendar and subscribe to updates. Click Yes to import the calendar with the default settings, which work just fine for the most part, or click Advanced to configure custom settings:
In a moment, the Internet calendar will appear under Other Calendars in your Outlook:

Import iCalendar file to Outlook

In some situations, you may want to import events from your other calendar into Outlook to spare the trouble of re-creating all your appointments from scratch. Instead, you export the calendar from another app (say, Google calendar) or another Outlook account as an ICS file, and then import that file into Outlook.

Note. You are importing only a snapshot of the current events. The imported calendar won't sync, and you will not get any automatic updates.

To import an iCal file into Outlook 2019, Outlook 2016 or Outlook 2013, this is what you need to do:

Open your Calendar.
Click File > Open & Export > Import/Export.
In the Import and Export Wizard that appears, select Import an iCalendar (.ics) or vCalendar file(.vcs) and click Next.
Browse for the iCalendar file (it should end with the .ics extension) and click OK.
Based on your needs, choose one of these options:
- Open as New – to add a new calendar to your Outlook.
- Import – to import the items from the iCal file into your primary Outlook calendar.

Go to your Outlook calendar and, depending on your selection in the last step, you will find either a new calendar under Other calendars or all events from the .ics file imported into your existing calendar.

But first of all, you need to separate your Mac setup from the one your kid will use. Let your loved ones in via a separate entrance — a personal account that they will use for their needs. While you can password protect every account on Mac, your child won’t be able to mess with your content or accidentally delete important stuff.

Here’s how to create a child account:

Open System Preferences > Users & Groups.
Click the Lock to enable changes.
Add a new account by clicking on the plus button.

If you’re using macOS Mojave or earlier, you can go to System Preferences > Parental Controls and add a new account from there.

Next step is to create Gmail account for your child, which you can have some control over. There’s actually a better way than just owning a password. For this purpose, Google created an app called Family Link, which enables parents to stay in the know. Once you set up the app and link it to your child’s account, you’ll be able to monitor the activity associated with it.

Here’s how to use Family Link for Google account control:

Install Family Link on your mobile device and link it with a Google account.
Go to Settings > Manage Settings to set up activity controls.
To delete specific activity, go to My Activity Page in the child’s account > More > Select > Delete.

Family Link also has built-in screen time tracking and location tracking — so that you always know where your kid is. You can edit account info or lock a child’s account right from your app at any time.

How to set parental controls on macOS Catalina

Here’s how you set up Screen Time on Mac:

Open System preferences > Screen Time.
If Screen Time is set to Off, make sure you enable it.
Select the account and click on Options.
Check the box next to “Use Screen Time Passcode” to ensure no one except you will be able to change the settings.
If you want to have access to Screen Time controls from any device, check the box next to “Share across devices.”

Set up downtime

In the Screen Time, you can create a focused environment for your child using Downtime functionality. Perfect for when they have to do homework. Downtime switches off access to everything except specific apps you select. Here’s how to enable it on your Mac:

Launch Screen Time.
In the left side bar, select your child’s account.
Open the Downtime tab > Turn on.
Select Every Day or Custom and set the hours for when Downtime should be enabled.

You can adjust the hours of Downtime every day, based on your needs, if you select Custom. The app sends notifications 5 minutes before Downtime is scheduled so that your kids can finish whatever they are doing and get to work.

Create custom app limits

There are always those few apps that are the biggest time-sucks. Screen Time solves this problem by enabling you to set app limits. In the corresponding tab, click on the plus button to add a new app limit. You can set a custom limit for the entire category of apps — like Entertainment or Social Networking. Or, open the drop-down list under the category and set up limits for specific apps.

Track your screen time

One of the benefits of Screen Time is that it gives you a comprehensive view of how your child spends time on Mac. It has three tabs — App Usage, Notifications, and Pickups — for tracking activity across apps and categories. Here’s how you make the most of it:

Use App Usage to check time spent in every app during a specific period of time. See what type of activity takes over — Productivity, Social Networking, or Entertainment. You can also compare actual activity versus app limits.
The Notifications tab is there to tell you what apps are sending the biggest number of notifications. Maybe you should think about disabling them?
In the Pickups, you can view how many times you pick up a device and what app you open right away — an iOS feature that migrated to macOS.

If you want to quickly reset app limits or disable Downtime, customize settings in Always Allowed and you’re good to go. To deny access to specific web content or disable purchases in online stores, use Content & Privacy.

The best thing about Screen Time is that it works equally well for parental controls and for controlling your own activity. Use Screen Time to focus on work or limit Instagramming, and your routine will become healthier over time.
